ARTIST, "Angola Janga - Kingdom of Runaway Slaves"

 Marcelo D’Salete (born 1979) is a university professor, illustrator and comic book artist. He graduated graphic design, visual art and art history. His comics concentrate on the theme of local communities: Noite Luz (2008) touches on city night clubs, Cumbe (2014, awarded with the Eisner Award in 2018) talks about the colonial era and black resistance against slavery in Brasil, Encruzilhada (2016) focuses on violence, black youth and discrimination in large cities. His latest creation is Angola Janga – Kingdom of the Ranaway Slaves, awarded with multiple titles and awards in Brazil in 2018, premiering during the 30th MFKiG from Timof Comics.
