WOJCIECH BIREK – creator and translator of comics, professor at the Institute of Polish Studies and Journalism of the University of Rzeszów. For over 20 years, he has been managing the Rzeszów Academy of Comics at the Provincial Culture Center in Rzeszów. Curator and co-author of exhibitions of Polish comics in Poland and abroad. Author of the comic book „Naznaczony Mrokiem”, screenwriter of the comic book series „„Strażnicy Orlego Pióra””. He published comic strips and short comic forms in the magazines “Awantura”, “Komiks Forum”, “Czas Komiksu”, as well as in the local press throughout the country. Author of the monographic books „Grzegorz Rosiński – mistrz ilustracji i komiksu” and “Henryk Sienkiewicz w obrazkach”, as well as a collection of scientific texts „Z teorii i praktyki komiksu. Propozycje i obserwacje”. Member of the scientific board of the periodical “Zeszyty Komiksowe”, a regular collaborator of comic festivals in Łódź and Warsaw, a long-time member of the jury of comic competitions.
At the 34th MFKiG, he’s a juror in the main competition for the design of a comic book.
